Get together, BBQ, historical talks, newtworking and
walk around the Narara Research Station
This may be the
very last chance to take a wander around this very special place in the
world.
What to bring: As we may not have access to 240v power,
bring lunch to share, maybe even a camping chair. I will bring a small BBQ
and supply simple sausage sangers but an extra salad is always
welcome.
If it's piddling rain the show will go on, but we will be
under cover.
Toilets will be
available.
Suggest to get there early at 10am sharp as I will be
doing acrobatics whilst hanging upside down naked from an ultralight
aircraft from just after 10am. I will in reality be sitting securely
behind a very competent pilot flying in such a tiny craft in order to
take some archival shots of the property. Some pics of nubile nymphs
dancing naked amongst the new mown lawns could really add to the
effect, but I'll leave that to your own choice of dress. ;-)
PS I will not appear naked at any time during the day - promise! ;-)
I have booked an ultralight to fly me down from Somersby to take some archival shots of the station simply to mark an important point in history for this property. The flyover timing is planned for 10:10am 10/10/10.
Hoping the following pic will
make things easier.
Hop on the F3 from Sydney, drive across the Hawkesbury, and Mooney Mooney bridges until you get to the Gosford exit. Follow the old Pacific Hwy down the hill and turn left at the first available traffic lights. This will be Manns Rd - follow it for about 4km till you pass over a small bridge across a creek and immediately turn left into Carrington St. There's a roundabout shortly afterwards in case you miss the turn or are being monstered from behind. The map should suffice from there.
From the north:
note on the right hand side of the map is the old Pacific Hwy linking Gosford with Ourimbah. Whether you come from the north or go through Gosford itself, the arrows on the map should make it fairly clear.
Train:
Best train from Sydney would be the fast train from Central at 8:15 for 9:35 at Gosford (Not Narara) Please check the Cityrail timetable. For a lift please ring Ron on either 0415 170134 or 4328 1197.
